Crop rotation is a common practice in organic farming where different crops are planted in a specific sequence to prevent soil depletion, control pests, and improve nutrient cycling.
Organic farmers use compost, which is made from organic materials such as kitchen scraps and crop residues, to enrich the soil with nutrients and enhance its structure.
Organic farming typically involves the use of non-genetically modified (GMO) seeds. Genetically modified organisms are generally not allowed in organic production.
Organic farming promotes biodiversity by preserving natural habitats, using diverse crop varieties, and avoidng monoculture (the cultivation of a single crop over large areas).
Instead of synthetic pesticides, organic farmers use various techniques for pest control, including beneficial insects, crop diversity, and the careful timing of planting to minimize pest damage.
Organic farming practices aim to reduce pollution, conserve water resources,
and minimize soil erosion, contributing to overall environmental sustainability.
Organic livestock farming emphasizes the humane treatment of animals. Livestock are typically given access to the outdoors and are raised without the use of growth hormones or antibiotics for non-therapeutic purposes.
Organic farming prohibits the use of synthetic chemical fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides. Instead, it relies on natural
alternatives like neem oil, diatomaceous earth, and biopesticides.
Organic farmers focus on maintaining and improving soil health through practices like crop rotation, cover cropping, and composting. They avoid synthetic chemical fertilizers and pesticides, relying instead on natural alternatives.
